The national retailer started the evening off being named ‘TyreSafe Retailer of the Year’ for a third successive year. In presenting the award the TyreSafe judges commented, “Protyre exemplifies the passion and genuine engagement with the non-commercial imperative of tyre safety awareness having ceaselessly committed substantial resources and creativity in its delivery of the tyre safety message throughout the year”.

Each year Protyre builds on its ongoing initiatives to raise awareness for tyre safety this year they reached over 5 million people through radio interviews, local marketing, PR, an award winning database marketing program and in-centre expertise being shared with their customers. In addition, Protyre removed 500,000 used tyres from the market, ensuring they would not be sold as part-worns.

The evening went on to herald more success for Protyre when their partnership with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service was recognised for ‘Outstanding Achievement of the Year’. When describing what made the efforts of this partnership so outstanding TyreSafe said, “Both of these organisations go out of their way to commit time and resources to the tyre safety awareness campaign and have been doing so throughout TyreSafe’s ten years.  What particularly stood out for the judges was the commitment of both to reach out to form partnerships and further facilitate the tyre safety awareness over a long period of time”.

A delighted Simon Hiorns remarked, “We are extremely pleased that our efforts to keep tyre safety at the forefront of the motorist minds has been recognised in this way and we remain totally committed to our ongoing campaign to keep our customers and potential customers aware of tyre safety issues”.
