Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. (SRI) was founded in in 1909 and is the world’s fifth largest tyre producer. The operational side of SRI boasts 12 production facilities where over 110 million tyres are manufactured a year for their major brands Falken, Dunlop, Ohtsu and Sumitomo Tyres. In addition to manufacturing tyres on a global scale, SRI also produces a range of other rubber products including tennis racquets and balls and golf balls.
SRI was ranked in the Thomson Reuters Top 100 Global Innovators list in both 2011 and 2014. SRI invests in research into advanced production and mobility concepts of the future strengthening its status and responsibility as an innovation leader. The company’s headquarters are in Kobe, Japan.
Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI) acquired 100% of the Micheldever Group Ltd in 2017. MTS is a wholesale distributor and retailer of tyres, brake cables and exhausts for cars, motorbikes, tractors and trailers. Since the takeover, the retail division of the Micheldever Group, Protyre, has vastly expanded with a UK network of over 150 fast-fit garages and has ambitious plans to continue to grow, doubling this number size by 2025.
