Protyre is the retail arm of Micheldever Tyre Services Ltd. It is the brand for a national chain of mechanical and fast fit centres. It is the fastest growing network in the UK with plans to reach 200 centres and beyond. We offer a wide range of services across our garages:

Wholesale

With over 6,000 independent customers, Micheldever Tyre Services Ltd is the largest independent wholesale tyre distributor in the UK. Anything technology related starts with the IT service desk who provide technical support with the IT infrastructure across the group. We also provide a Project Management resource to company-wide initiatives.

Logistics

The logistics business unit alone employs over 500 people, this is split across the warehouse and transport operations which includes roles such as warehouse operatives, stock operatives, drivers and supervisors and shift managers. In addition to this we have administrative roles that support both operations. Logistics is built upon over 40 years of development and leadership in the replacement tyre market, serving professional tyre retailers across the UK with high quality logistics and business support services.

Purchasing and Pricing

Ensuring the tyres our Wholesale and Retail customers require are in the right place at the right time and at the right price. MTS Group holds over 1.0m tyres across 6,500 Premium, Midrange and Budget SKU’s plus a range of batteries and accessories. Stock is held across 13 warehouses with an industry leading on-shelf availability in excess of 90%. We set pricing for over 6,000 Wholesale customers from small independents to National Retailers. The Commercial Department is the engine room of the business.

Provide support to managers to help them manage their people. Process new contracts and changes to terms and conditions. Coach and support managers by delivering training on people issue topics. Support managers with the transfer of new employee at acquisitions. Working with each of the business units to create and deliver the initiatives driving their people agenda.

Finance

Our Finance team supports all areas of the business ensuring that our colleagues are:

  • Provided with accurate and timely information about how we are performing;
  • Offered real insight into how we can collectively maximise efficiency and value across the business; and
  • Supported by a strong but pragmatic control environment.

The key Finance functions are:

  • Controlling and Reporting: Ensuring our group financial reporting, tax and statutory obligations are fulfilled accurately and on-time
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Providing insight and analysis to the business
  • Finance Systems: Providing strong and stable systems to support Finance and the wider business and leverage our data
  • Compliance: Delivering the design and implementation of the J-SOX control environment and working with the business to ensure that it is operating effectively; group Health & Safety; GDPR and other data compliance management
  • Credit control: Handling over 18,000 live customers, managing customer payments, queries and new account applications whilst also supporting the billing and stock management functions in the business
  • Payroll: Making sure that our 2,500 colleagues are paid correctly and on-time
