The Micheldever Group began as a part-time venture, offering car servicing and tyres to its local neighbourhood, over 50 years ago. From these humble beginnings we have grown to become one of the UK’s largest wholesaler, distributor and retailer of tyres, selling close to seven million tyres nationwide annually – nearly a quarter of the total UK market.
But we have not forgotten our roots. Central to our success are our people, delivering outstanding service to customers every single day. Whilst the automotive industry as a whole has proven more attractive to men for much of our history, we are delighted that not only has the number of women in our workforce grown by 125% in the last 5 years, but women now earn 10.9% more than their male equivalents when comparing median hourly pay, and their median bonus pay is 26.1% higher.
This is counter to the nation as a whole, where UK Government figures suggest that men earn 9.4% more than women – the same figure as in 2017/18 when the data was first published.
