Covid-19 a notice for our customers

Posted on 20th March 2020

Our customers, suppliers and staff are rightly concerned about the potential impact of the developing situation with Covid-19 and how it impacts on them. Our staff have been issued with clear guidance on how the Covid-19 outbreak may impact them, and sets out the measures that they can take to limit the spread of the virus in line with current government guidance.

As a general principle, we continue to monitor government guidance every day and will follow local Public Health England guidance in the areas of the Country in which we operate.

Keeping Our Business Running

We operate our business from 14 warehouses, 7 wholesale sales offices and 157 retail stores across the UK. To the extent that staff can work effectively from home, they are doing so. We are following government guidance on social distancing and have postponed all non-essential meetings and visits until further notice, using telephone and conference calls in place of meetings where possible.

Telephony – we continue to support our customers on the phone, we can route calls to any of the seven sales offices and can divert your calls even if our sales office staff are working from home;

Internet – we continue to support our customers through online ordering, and customers will continue to be served through their integrated ordering systems;

Deliveries– these clearly rely on people to pick stock and drive our delivery vehicles and at present we are running a completely normal service. We are in a developing situation, if this changes we will keep you updated, but our fall back scenario in the event that we have fewer staff available still envisages delivering to every customer at least once per day.

Drivers are well briefed on keeping themselves and our customers safe and will keep customer contact to the minimum required to deliver your tyres safely;

Head office – we have access to our systems remotely meaning that we can continue to operate our support functions if staff have to work from home.

We have clear business continuity plans in place, and you will be contacted directly should there be any need to change the normal level of service that you would expect from us as your supplier.

Will I Still be Able to Buy What I Need?

We hold over 1m tyres across our network at any time and are in regular contact with our main suppliers to see if, and how, the products that we provide to our customers will be affected if there is going to be a prolonged impact in key manufacturing countries or in the UK supply chain. We are well stocked and will continue to be able to meet your supply requirements across all segments.

We will contact all of our Customers directly if we believe that there is going to be any disruption to their supply or service as a consequence of a change in government policy during a sustained epidemic, but in the meantime it is very much business as usual and we continue to operate a comprehensive service for our Customers.
